According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide.
Integrated in the city of Lisbon, but with an open door to the world, the Cardiovascular Centre of the University of Lisbon works hard to understand, improve and develop better diagnosis and treatments, bringing results from the lab into the clinic so that it can directly benefit patients.
Simultaneously, because health literacy is also an important factor in how citizens are able to make decisions related to their health, CCUL is also committed to act as a facilitator for effective decision-making and reduction of cardiovascular disease globally.
By working together with the local community, schools, entrepreneurs, journalists, and other science communication institutions, we encourage dialogue between different cultures and generations, acting as a valuable educational tool for formal, non-formal and informal education, lifelong learning and training.
